Why the French term "bourse"?
The French word “bourse” (stock market) was coined in the 14th century, when Belgian traders gathered at a square called “Van der Beurse”. This place of trade became known as the “Beurse”, and over the years, this word gradually changed to the one used in France today, the “bourse”!
The CAC 40
The CAC 40 is the benchmark stock market index of the French market. Created in 1987, it is used to measure the share price performance of the 40 largest French companies listed in the Paris stock exchange.
